Since my last post, we had a surprise visit from my sister, Cheryl and her son Levi. I got a call two days before they arrived. Both of us started getting ready... she had to pack and reschedule work appointments, I had to clean! What a wonderful long weekend we had. The kids enjoyed playing together and swimming in the pool. While they were here, we took some pictures of an amazing rainbow in front of our house. The kids (and adults) danced around in the little sprinkle that came with it. I love rainbows. They are a wonderful reminder of God's mercy and grace.
Trying to keep to our tradition of visiting a fair every time my sister visits, we checked out the Annual High Rolls Cherry Festival . This festival did not meet our expectations. The advertisement mentioned kids activities including a jumping balloon and pony rides... they were not there. We did all enjoy fresh cherry pie and picked up a few other items from local vendors. Cheryl bought some really yummy dip mix that we ate WAY too much of over the weekend. I had the horrible task of finishing it off after she left.
Matt left right before Cheryl and Levi for the state camp meeting for our denomination. The group here has welcomed us nicely and Matt is looking forward to working with them on a few projects. He had a good week in Albuquerque listening to sermons... a treat for pastors who are normally the ones sharing the message.
When we took Cheryl and Levi to the airport, Emily started crying a little. I consoled her with the fact we will be visiting Tennessee in three and a half weeks. We also are having Matt's best friend, JM, for a visit before we leave for Tennessee. We'll probably check out Tombstone while he's here. Can't wait to take a few pictures of that. The rest of the summer is turning out to be very busy.
Speaking of busy.... I have a job! I've been looking since we moved here for a small part time job that would work well with our family schedule. I am now a merchandiser for a company named Mosaic. I just finished my training yesterday and start this week. My job consists of making sure the video games at Walmart are displayed properly including all new release signage and price tags. I visit the store here twice a week and travel to Ruidoso once a week. I've been meaning to post the news, as I was hired three weeks ago... but kept forgetting to add it on. I'm also on the list for two other merchandising companies and may do one time audit visits for various products from time to time. Merchandising is a very flexible field, perfect for a stay-at-home mom. I feel blessed to finally have a nice little job on the side. It should be fun.
